We definitely saved our favourite of the awards for last. The Nomadic Inscriptions Nomadic Inscriber of Choice award. Has a nice ring to it if you ask us.
When going through what awards we were going to have there were a few no-brainers
Since we have a focus on travelling cheaply and authentically we had to have one for hostels and hotels.
No one can forget about food, right? It’s one of the great things about travelling! Trying out all types of new local cuisines. Therefore an award for restaurants, bars, and other food-related places was essential.
If I had to describe Nomadic Inscriptions in two words those would be “tattoos” and “travel”. Therefore there had to be at least one tattoo-related award. Now we have seen some tattoo shops that were pretty… yikes. So an award for great tattoo shops just made sense.
Yet Something Was Still Missing.
At least that’s how we felt. It didn’t take much thought before the answer was clear.
When we get our tattoos around the world we first look for the most traditional style and method possible. If a country doesn’t have that we look for an artist we think is exceptional and doesn’t already have a great deal of renown. We work with that artist to get a tattoo significant to their country. They have complete creative freedom as long as it is significant to them as an artist and a citizen of their country.
Since we have the chance to work with such amazing artists it seemed clear what the last reward should be. A reward for the amazing nomadic inscribers the work with us at Nomadic Inscriptions. Thus the creation of this award was born.
Tattoo artists are true inscribers of both the nomadic and non-nomadic.
Who is Eligible?
Currently, every tattoo artist that doesn’t already have a large amount of renown or fame for tattooing is eligible. Whether they do traditional tattoos in a monastery in Thailand or a back alley shop in SoHo.
This means that as much as we would love and hope to work with people such as Scott Campbell, Ryan Ashley DiCristina, and Dillon Forte they aren’t currently eligible for this award. This is primarily due to the fact that they already have world renown. We want to bring attention to exceptional artists that deserve it and are lesser-known.
As for all awards, we take nominations for artists that you think are special and might be deserving of this award. Send all nominations to choiceawards@nomadicinscriptions.com with their shop and location so they can be considered the next time we are in that area.
Winner Announcements
As with the other awards, the announcements of the winners for the previous year will be announced every March between the 15th and 31st. That means the winners of the 2021 Nomadic Inscriptions Nomadic Inscriber of Choice award will be announced in the next couple of weeks. So look forward to that coming out!
