Normally, the Nomadic Inscriptions Choice Awards would follow the hotel/hostel of choice awards with the Restaurant of Choice award. However, this year Lisa has been put in charge of the restaurant of choice and therefore, it is not quite done. She’s having a difficult time making decisions between restaurants. That being said, the awards must go on! Therefore, we will give you the 2023 Tattoo Studio of Choice first. Perhaps even the 2023 Nomadic Inscribers of Choice Award.
Without further ado, the first 2023 Tattoo Studio of Choice awards goes to Taijnar Ink.
Taijnar Ink
Taijnar recently joined a newly opened studio in downtown Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. She has made the place her own, incorporating her various art pieces upon the walls of her area. The shop itself is immaculate. The shop somehow incorporates a combination of privacy and an open studio plan in a spectacular way. It makes you feel comfortable while not exposed to whoever else might be there.
The other artists working at the studio are also spectacular artists and incredible people. Getting to know them was one of the many highlights of this Mongolia trip. With or without Taijnar at this studio, it would be deserving of the 2023 Tattoo Studio of Choice award.
Ati Company
I didn’t know what to expect from an ‘underground’ tattoo studio. With the laws surrounding tattooing in Korea, the Ati Company is just that. An underground tattoo studio. However, you would never know by looking at it.
Between the open floor plan and the connected office, Ati Company exudes an air of professionalism that you don’t get from “official” studios in the West. Needless to say, the place was spotless. The artists are spectacular and went above and beyond from beginning to end.
I am honoured to have had the opportunity to be tattooed not once, but twice, at the Ati Company. They are more than deserving of the 2023 Tattoo Studio of Choice Award.
Keep Up With Your Aftercare
I know the list of the 2023 Tattoo Studios of Choice is short. However, tattoos are expensive, and we can only experience so many shops per year. Not to mention that not every shop we go to or get tattooed at will make the choice awards.
