Choosing the 2021 Nomadic Inscribers of Choice was easy. Finding them? That’s another story. The amount of time we put into finding artists we love as potential people to work with eclipses the time put into finding a great studio. After all, even the best tattoo studio in the world, and we found some great ones this year, falters if they don’t also have exceptional artists.
We understand that using the words “Nomadic Inscriber” for a tattoo artist is different. Yet we always thought it to be fitting. We have yet to meet a tattoo artist that doesn’t love to travel. Nomads at heart, tattoo artists inscribe a piece of themselves every time they give someone a tattoo. Many go to great lengths to let the world inscribe itself on them through their own tattoos and travels. Free at heart exactly like the nomads, tattoo artists deserve the moniker of “Nomadic Inscribers”.
Without further ado, here are our Nomadic Inscribers of Choice for 2021.
Dora Bansagi
Fat Fox Tattoo in Vienna, Austria
Dora is an absolute inspiration as a tattoo artist. As the only tattoo artist that we have ever met without a tattoo herself, she impressively defies a major commonality of tattoo artists. Yet this has not stopped her from excelling in her craft. As an artist, she is exceptional. Specializing in more than one style, she never fails to bring life to her work.
Yet, Dora is not only an accomplished tattoo artist. She is the owner and founder of Fat Fox Tattoo in Vienna. An accomplishment in and of itself, as many artists never get to open a shop or don’t succeed in doing so. In defiance of that as well, Fat Fox Tattoo has seen enough success to be opening a second location in Vienna. An impressive feat at the very least.
We are honoured to be able to name Dora the first of the 2021 Nomadic Inscriber of Choice winners. She was an absolute pleasure to work with.
George
Lobster Tattoo in Split, Croatia
George is an incredible man and an even better artist. Always jovial, George has an immense passion for his art. Although capable of many styles, he truly shines and exceeds expectations when working within his specialization. A specialization that is known by some as American traditional, traditional, classic, or Sailor Jerry; It’s composed mainly of bold thick lines, high saturation, and deceptively simple imagery.
George masterfully packs in ink, forming these thick lines into gorgeous works of art. A true jack of all trades and a master of one. Working with him on our traditional Croatian tattoo was as much informative as it was a blast. He can be found at Lobster Tattoo in Split, Croatia
George is a man deserving of both more renown for his art and his place among the 2021 Nomadic Inscriber of Choice winners.
Wowa
Wowa Tattoo in Prague, Czech Republic
Our Czech artist is named Wowa, pronounced “Vova”, and he is not only an exceptional artist but also a very patient man. Despite speaking very little English, he goes to every possible length to communicate with his customers. This habit of going above and beyond is reflected in every aspect of his work and the tattooing process.
Wowa, his skills, and his heart of gold have more than earned him his place among the 2021 Nomadic Inscriber of Choice winners.
Final Words
It was both a pleasure and an honour working with such exceptional artists. If ever given the opportunity, we highly recommend getting tattooed by any one of these artists. You wouldn’t regret it.
With the announcement of the 2021 Nomadic Inscriber of Choice winners, the first annual Nomadic Inscriptions Choice Awards have come to a close. This has been a journey for us that we wouldn’t change for anything. We feel so privileged to be able to work with so many amazing businesses and people. The experiences we’ve had have changed us, and we can’t wait to see where this journey will take us from here.
