This year we only awarded one studio this year’s Tattoo Studio of Choice Award. Despite that, we do have two artists to bestow the 2022 Nomadic Inscriber of Choice Award to, and they are from different corners of the world.
Cyi – Independent Artist, Vienna, Austria
Cyi is an impressive independent artist from just outside the city of Vienna. It’s very rare that we come across a self-taught artist that is as talented as they are. They originally started with the stick-and-poke method, but have since expanded their repertoire to include the use of tattoo guns. However, with their specialization in dot work, it is apparent that their skill in stick and poke is so exceptional that it outshines the average artist using a machine.
Currently, Cyi is in the process of moving to Zürich, Switzerland, where they will be opening their own shop with another artist. We look forward to seeing them succeed in this next step in their tattooing career and are honoured to award them the first of the 2022 Nomadic Inscriber of Choice Awards.
Maria Brunereau – Mexican Tatts, Tequisquispan, Querétaro, and Mexico City, Mexico
Maria is, by far, the most welcoming and courteous artist that we’ve ever had the privilege of getting to know. Not only is her art breathtaking, but the sheer extent in which she goes above and beyond for her customers is astounding.
Maria specializes in the embroidery style of tattooing; a style that is, in our opinion, way too underrated. Although her switch to tattooing as a career was moderately recent, her skill is beyond reproach. A skill of which is deserving of this award in and of itself. However, we firmly believe that the combination of her skill and hospitality exemplifies a level everyone should strive for.
Wrapping Another Year Up
Another year of working with phenomenal artists has come and gone. It’s been incredible getting to work with the artists that we have had the chance to get to know, and we are honoured to be able to give these two the 2022 Nomadic Inscriber of Choice Award. Even though it’s less than last year, they more than deserve it. We look forward to seeing how they continue to excel in the future!

With that, we end this year’s Nomadic Inscriptions Choice Awards. It’s been a great year filled with mouthwatering food, breathtaking sights, great accommodations, beautiful artwork, and friendly people.
