2022 Hostel of Choice Award

Welcome to the second annual Nomadic Inscriptions Choice Awards. To kick off this year’s awards, we decided to start with the 2022 Hostel of Choice Award. When it comes to all things travel, accommodations are one of the first things most people worry about.

This year we travelled quite a bit. Therefore, we stayed in quite a few places. Despite that, most of our experiences ranged from moderately good all the way to horrendous or even terrifying.

So despite our desire to award more places this year, the recommendations we were given just didn’t live up to what we were told.

However, there was one that shone through the darkness. Therefore, it will be the only place taking the 2022 Hostel of Choice Awards.

Casa Pepe, Mexico City, Mexico

Casa Pepe was incredible. An absolute haven for any traveller, tourist, or digital nomad. Upon walking in, if you weren’t aware it was a hostel, you would assume it was a high-quality hotel.

Located in downtown Mexico City, there is only one downside to Casa Pepe. That is the fact that it doesn’t have anywhere for guests to park. Alas, that is not a surprise, as most hostels tend not to. Despite this, the pricing is incredibly reasonable despite being in such a desirable location.

Everything that Casa Pepe offers, from beds to internet to workrooms. From the rooftop bar to service and even a full timetable of hosted events. Every last thing is mind-blowing in how exceptional it is.  

We are so glad we had the opportunity to check out Casa Pepe. To be able to experience even a small portion of all that they have to offer was ineffable. 

If ever in Mexico City, we highly recommend you stay at the sole winner of the 2022 Hostel of Choice Award, Casa Pepe.

Check Out Time

Despite all the places that were recommended to us that turned out to be okay or just straight bad, we are still glad we stayed in these places. It’s those experiences that really make the hostels deserving of an award stand out. 

That being said, not all were bad. There were some pretty decent places. However, none of them would Garner more than a 3.5-star rating from us at most. Plus, only 2 of the places we checked would even make it that high.

We are elated to have been able to stay at so many places and feel privileged to announce Casa Pepe as our 2022 Hostel of Choice Award winner. 

We just hope that next year there will be a lot more places announced as winners.
