Travel and Tattoo Tuesday

Tattoo Tuesday has been a thing that we do in our email newsletter for a while. As has Travel Tuesday. Yet this week was our first Travel and Tattoo Tuesday. We have a lot to go over this week with all that’s happening in September.

September is going to be crazy busy for us. We have packed a whole bunch of places over three countries in four weeks. Lisa and I have decided to take a trip back to North America. Starting in Mexico.

If you’re interested in getting updates like this in your email then sign up either below or to the right(depending on your device). That’s where we give updates, announcements, year-in-reviews, etc before putting them up on the site or social media.

Our Travel Itinerary

Mexico City Area

Lisa and I don’t plan to go back to North America very often. Therefore we packed as much as possible in the four weeks Lisa will be travelling with me.

On September first, we will be flying from Vienna to Mexico City where we will be picking up the car we rented and heading to our hostel Casa MX Alameda. We will be staying there and touring Mexico City for the second and the morning of the third.

In the afternoon of the third, we will be driving to Tequisquiapan and staying the night there. Early on the fourth, we will be meeting with our Mexican tattoo artist. We will be spending most of the day with her as Lisa and I will both be getting tattoos. We will also be interviewing her before spending some time in town.

On the evening of the fourth, we drive over to Tolantongo where we will be staying and exploring until the sixth. On the morning of the sixth, we go back to Mexico City where we will be meeting other Travel content creators for the Global travel content creator retreat. We will be doing stuff with them until we leave Mexico City on the eighth.

Mexican Tattoo Artist

It took me six months of looking at different tattoo artists before making a decision. I actually had it down to two and was considering getting one tattoo from both. They had different styles and ideas when it came to tradition and culture so I felt it fit well. Therefore I reached out to both. Only one took the time to converse with me. Not only that, but she seemed super excited to work with us! We are really excited to work with Maria of Mexican Tatts. It almost wasn’t possible for us due to her work schedule and the fact that she moves between three different locations. Yet we made it work!

Cancun Area

We fly over to Cancun on the eighth. Almost immediately after getting off the flight, we will be meeting up with my uncle and sister. The main reason we are all going down here is to spend time with my grandfather for his 70th birthday.

So we will meet up at the airport and get on the shuttle to the Grand Sirenis Hotel and Resort in the Maya Riviera. It’ll be a week of family, sun, scuba diving, and drinking while we catch up and celebrate. While there we are hoping to hit some of the local cenotes and perhaps go to Tulum, Cancun, and/or Playa Del Carmen. It’s going to be a great week.

I know the tattoos will still be fresh(er) when scuba diving comes into play, but we have a couple of things we want to try before we can advise using those methods. We try it so you don’t have to.

Dallas Area

On the 15th we fly to Dallas to spend some more time with my grandparents. After all my grandparents are very near and dear to me. Whilst there we plan on taking a day trip down south. We are debating between San Antonio and Jacobs Well near Wimberley. Perhaps both! We shall see.

Lisa has a list of things she wants to do in Texas. All of them seem to include food. She’s looked at nothing else. Just food. So my grandparents and I are discussing various things she might enjoy since they live there and I’ve been before. During our time there we will also be visiting some old and dear friends of mine that I haven’t seen in years!

Lisa is also considering getting a Tattoo in Dallas. She really wants a tattoo of a cow so she has to find an artist herself. I’m leaving my America tattoo for much later as it’s fairly low on my priority list. As long as I have friends and grandparents in the states I’ll always find a reason to go back.

San Francisco

San Francisco is only a layover on the 20th. However, it is a layover that is over 8 hours long. Lisa and I debated on trying to go into the city or just staying at the airport. Luckily the debate didn’t last long.

My friend Tyler is going to be picking us up at the airport so we can have a bit more time in town. I’m looking forward to being able to spend a day going around town with my dear wife and one of my best friends. To be able to share an amazing day, to experience the Golden Gate Bridge with Lisa for her first time. I couldn’t ask for more.

Alberta

The end of this trip (at least for Lisa) is going to be Alberta. I have to go back to tie up some loose ends. So while Lisa is there we will be doing a bunch of things she never had the opportunity to do while we lived there. West Edmonton Mall waterpark is top of her list, but I’m hoping to be able to go to Jasper with her.

While there we will be staying with some friends of mine. Unfortunately, Lisa can only stay until the 25th or 26th before she has to go back to Austria. I should be following as soon as I can. I just have to deal with the government about a few things, renew my driver’s license, visit friends I haven’t seen since I left four years ago, etc, etc.

Yet I’m considering something other than just heading back when I’m done all I need to do in Alberta. I’m considering having Lisa meet me in Iceland and spending a week or so there before heading back to Austria with her. After all, we started the trip together… Shouldn’t we end it that way too?

Anywho, that’s our plan for the next few months starting in September. We would love to hear yours!
