Headed Back to Croatia

Pardon my face. My cold is making me very blah.

After not travelling for many months I am finally on the road again. Early this morning I hopped on a bus that I booked with Flixbus headed for Croatia. I’m very excited to be headed back to Croatia.

Timing is a Funny Thing

It’s stupid really. For weeks I’ve been perfectly healthy then two days before I leave a cold hits me like a truck. Wet cough, plugged and runny nose, the works.

Given the days we are living in I immediately think ” oh no… covid…” So I immediately took an at home test. It was negative, but just to be safe I went to get a PCR test. Surprise! Also negative.

It’s still rough though. With every cough or sniffle I get the weirdest looks. You’d think I was carrying a bomb with how people react. Nope, just a cold.

Zagreb Bus Station

That’s actually where I am as I write this. I had a transfer in Zagreb with an hour-long layover. Is it still a layover when it’s buses or trains rather than flights? Not sure honestly.

I digress though. The next stretch, the final stretch, is the almost 6 hour bus ride to split. In fact… please hold while I catch the bus. I guess I’ll less headed back to Croatia and more here already.

What Will I Be Doing While I’m Here?

This trip is going to be a lot different than  the one in 2021. That trip was about visiting a friend in his hometown and dipping my toes in the sea of adventure that is Croatia.

Instead of being based in Korcula I will be based in Split. The last time I was here I became pretty good friends with Aaron. Eh-eh Ron. The owner of Hurricane Hostel. One of my favourite places to stay in Croatia.

I offered to help him out at the hostel so I will be making sure people are respectful after quiet hours. However I have a more exciting task at the hostel. I’m in charge of planning excursions for people staying there.

Essentially I’m taking the hat of a tour guide as I plan different trips that people can sign up for at the hostel. And I have some pretty cool ones in mind. This is one of the biggest reasons I’m headed back to Croatia.

Hopefully I’ll see some of you here!
