Shotgun Shooters Bar is a small bar in Split, Croatia located right inside the old palace. It is one of the prominent go-to party locations to start off a night in Split or just party the night away. Although it’s always a party down at shotgun it really picks up around 11 at night. Around that time it starts becoming absolutely packed and when it comes to partying the bartenders at Shotgun know how to live it up!
Shotgun boasts over 40 different shots with unique names. Names like “Pussy Liqueur” (white chocolate and strawberry) or “Blue Balls” (vodka and blue curacao) fill their menu. Don’t know what to get? Spin the wheel! Whatever it lands on you have to drink though. If you’re lucky it might even land on “Free Shot”.
If you’re feeling brave you can venture into other areas of their menu. This starts with fire shots with absinthe to straight absinthe to the challenges. All of which require a different amount of gusto to approach. The fire shots vary in how hard they will hit you, but each will hit hard in its own way.
Fire Shots
For example, the “Sperminator” is a mixture of sambuca and absinthe. Yet you don’t just shoot it; there’s a process.
First, the bartender lights it on fire.
Second, you put that fire out with the palm of your hand and leave it there for a few seconds. That will put out the flame and suction cup the shot glass to your hand.
Third, you bring the shot glass up to your face without removing your palm. When it’s right night to your face you release the suction and take a deep breath in through your nose. Make sure that you do so right over the glass.
Fourth, you take that shot like a champ.
Lastly fifth, you put your lips to the glass as fast as possible and take a deep breath in through your mouth. If you don’t feel it then you’re doing it wrong.
Attempt The Challenges
For those who really want to drink or love a good challenge then these are for you. There are 3 different challenges to choose from. For each, you can only select from their strongest 10 or so shots.
The first is the group challenge. For this challenge, you get a group of 2-3 people together to take 9 consecutive shots as fast as possible. Your group is timed and if you beat the time of the last group to win you get your name up on their board with your time and the shots are free.
The second is the solo challenge. It’s the exact same as the group challenge except you are doing it all solo.
The third and final challenge is the “All Shots” challenge which you can do with a group of up to 3 people. With this challenge, you have to take every single shot they have in their normal shots category. If you succeed you get to create a shot. So every time someone wins this challenge it gets just a little bit harder for the next challenger. Unfortunately, this challenge doesn’t give you free shots if you succeed so you’ll have to pay for every shot you drink.
Yet that’s not all that Shotgun Shooters Bar offers. They have various games and wheels with other small challenges that can win you free shots. Not that it’s needed seeing as most shots are under 30 kuna (~4 USD/Euro) each.
