Getting Back to Authentic Nomadic Inscriptions

Me wearing my nomadic inscriptions backpack, a foot on a rock as i face away from the camera. Krka Waterfalls fill the background. Getting back to authentic Nomadic Inscriptions.

So recently I have been noticed something that I have been doing with Nomadic Inscriptions. Almost all of my content has been very SEO-oriented stuff. For those who don’t know what that is, it’s essentially stuff that googles likes. Which is both important and informative, but lacks that personal connection. It’s stuff like “7 Awesome Things to do in X” lists, itineraries for different cities or countries, travel guides, and reviews of some pretty awesome places. Yet that isn’t all that Nomadic Inscriptions is, but it’s kind of what it has become due to the scene. This realization gave me an epiphany. I need to get back to authentic Nomadic Inscriptions.

What do I mean by “back to authentic Nomadic Inscriptions”?

One thing that has always been super important to me when doing this is being authentic. These days so many people put on these masks and facades. Pretending to be people that they aren’t. Sometimes they do it to fit in, sometimes for views. Who knows the reason, but it’s not sustainable. After some time that facade falls apart. I don’t feel that I’ve truly been authentic to myself or Nomadic Inscriptions lately.

So how am I supposed to connect with you if I’m not being authentic?

Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy giving thorough, well-researched, and thought-out lists, itineraries and advice. Helping others is awesome (and definitely helps the SEO. Wink, wink). The thing is I started Nomadic Inscriptions because I truly believed I had some damn cool stories to tell. Like the time I thought I was going to die in Mongolia, my arrival to China, or my visa nightmare in Austria.

Somewhere along the line I kind of lost that. I lost the storyteller within me and everything became so…. Robotic. I’m sure there’s a better word for it, but it escapes me. I’ve been telling all of you to stay authentic, but lost what made me authentically me.

So how can we get back to authentic?

Honestly, I gotta be me. Get back to putting me awesome stories on the page. Tell you about the absolute nightmare person that joined me for a trip, or the life-changing road trip across Croatia with one of my best friends. What about how I met a random American veteran who runs a hostel in Split, Croatia? He and I are now friends who talk fairly regularly. At least as regularly as it gets with me. Most importantly I’ve got to connect with you!

Don’t get me wrong. This doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop with the travel tips and advice. Those make up a big part of who I am too. Just ask my friends and family, I’ve been giving some damn good advice for years! There’s another thing, too. I swear. A lot! Yet I’ve been cleaning it up for the website. That’s not fucking authentic!

So from here on out you’re going to get 100 percent authentic me. The good, the bad, and the ugly. ‘Cause, how can I tell anyone to be authentic if I’m not going to be myself? You’re still going to get more listicles, tips, and itineraries. Now you’ll also get a lot more stories, random cool tidbits, slang/jargon, and other random stuff. I’m writing to connect with real people not a fucking computer. Especially since we have so much cool shit going on behind the scenes just waiting to be announced! One of which looks like it might be happening in the next week or two!

So let’s fucking do this guys.

Stay Authentic. Stay Nomadic. Most of all inscribe yourself on this world as you let it inscribe itself on you. Till next time…. Ciao!
